The Gift of Our Time
From music to mulching, the ministries and programs of our church depend on the time and talents of our members. Whether it is for a one-time project or a weekly commitment, giving of your time is one of the greatest blessings you can be to our ministries, and taking that time with others of our congregation will, invariably, become one of the greatest blessings you receive from our church.
Volunteering Opportunities
Weed ‘n Feed
North Shore Congregational Church is tremendously blessed to be located at the heart of the Village of Fox Point and surrounded by beautiful gardens throughout our church campus. Throughout the year, a dedicated group of volunteers gathers to plant, prune, weed, clear and otherwise tend to our gardens. The picturesque surroundings of our church building are largely the result of the ongoing Weed ‘n Feed group. Weed ‘n Feed gatherings are scheduled sporadically throughout the year and are almost always followed by a time of food and fellowship shared among the workers.
If you would be interested in knowing more about Weed ‘n Feed, contact one of our Ministers, or contact the Church Office to be placed on an email list to be notified of our next event.
Collators
Some of the ‘unsung heroes’ of our office staff are the collators, who gather each month to prep the newsletter mailing. By giving an hour or so each month (typically during the day), these volunteers collate and prepare our mailing, saving extraordinary amounts time for our office staff and making this regular responsibility an event of joy and fellowship. With all of the ‘technical’ work completed by our staff, the collators gather to assemble, label and finalize all of the newsletters to be mailed each month. With some 300-400 going out each month, this team takes what would be a significant burden on our staff and turns it into an opportunity for chatting and sharing together.
If you would be interested in helping out with our collators, contact our Office Manager, Kerrin White, at kerrinwhite@northshorecongl.org.
Youth Ministry Leadership & Support
In an effort to create and maintain meaningful and engaging ministries for children and youth of all ages, we are always in need of more volunteers to teach Sunday school, help with youth programs, work with the Youth Leadership Team, mentor Confirmation students, and more. If you have a heart for youth, contact Rev. Julie at juliesmith@northshorecongl.org to get involved.
Church Leadership
Our Nominating Committee works, every spring, to create a roster of church leaders to continue to follow God’s inspiration and blessing for the ministries of our church. Most boards meet on a monthly basis and fulfill a number of other roles and responsibilities of the church, as outlined in our bylaws. If you would be interested in serving as an officer, on a board, or in another elected role in the church, please contact one of our Ministers.
Special Needs & Opportunities
Special needs and opportunities for service are always arising in the life of the church. From baking goods for memorial services and stuffing envelopes for special mailings to photographing church programs and offering legal advice on church matters, there is no doubt you have a skill or knowledge that will be a benefit to the church. Click the button below to fill out our Volunteer Request Form and let us know what gifts and heart God has given for service in and through our church. We will help connect you to those times and places where those gifts can be put to work.
