The Journey

When life leads us into the wilderness

Anyone who has wandered this earth for more than just those first few years knows that life comes with its unavoidable ups and downs.

No matter how blessed we may be with family, friends, health, and even prosperity, life will have its moments, and even its seasons, of ‘wilderness experience.’ There will be times when we feel forlorn, alone, trapped, aimless, listless, or abandoned.

No matter how many wondrous mountaintop moments of wonder we may know in life, there will be others of wilderness strife that bear life’s burdens down upon us.

“Explore God’s reply to these questions, and more, through the story of the Israelites…”
Timeless Questions

The questions that follow us into uncertain seasons

01

Where do I go from here?

02

How do I find my way?

03

Where is my hope?

04

Where is God?

A journey through Exodus

The story of the Israelites shared in the Book of Exodus is a powerful depiction of the human experience on a grand scale. Trapped, terrified, wounded, exhausted, and tested, the Israelites endure the countless aspects of life’s wilderness journeys from moments of strife to God’s ultimate deliverance. The questions they face are very much the same as those we know today.

Delivered: ‘Who Am I?’

Scripture Focus: Exodus 3: 1-12

Food for Thought: As we kick off this new program year in the life of the church, we meet Moses at the beginning of the Exodus story, confronted by the call of God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. In the conversation that follows, we are drawn to consider the difference between the question moses asks, ‘Who am I?’ and one God answers: ‘Who is God?’
